# Media library

Manage images, audio, and video alongside your content.

## A library for your organization

The media library is shared across your organization’s Spaces. Owners, admins, and editors can manage media; members have read-only access. Use ready assets in your content rather than uploading the same file repeatedly.

Uploads count toward your organization’s storage allowance. In-progress uploads reserve space until they finish or expire. Check Billing if a new upload would exceed your capacity.

## Images

Upload through the media library or editor, then insert a ready image. Uploaded images have public publishing URLs. They are separate from images already committed to a repository.

Repository image references retain their Markdown paths. A Space’s public directory normally defaults to `public`, while Hugo content defaults to `static`. Relative references resolve from the content file. Private repository image previews require normal workspace access.

## Audio and video

Upload audio and video through the normal media workflow, then use the ready URL in your content. Delivery supports playback and range requests. Your organization has separate audio/video storage and monthly transfer allowances.

Media URLs are public publishing URLs, not private attachment links. Do not use them for confidential files. Deleting an asset can break published references; review where it is used before deleting it.

## Analytics

Analytics covers audio and video, not general website traffic or image views. Live reports require the service’s analytics integration to be configured. A lack of reports should not be interpreted as proof that nobody played a file.

Keep original media copies as part of your own backup process. Uploaded assets are not automatically committed to Git.

## Monthly audio/video transfer

Storage measures how much media you keep. Monthly transfer estimates how much audio and video is delivered through playback and downloads during a UTC calendar month; images are excluded. The estimate uses transfer starts multiplied by file size. Partial playback, repeat requests, and reporting delays can affect it, so it is not an exact count of network bytes.

The included monthly allowance is soft: exceeding it triggers a reminder in Billing. Media delivery continues and there is no overage charge.
